ShipKit vs TanStarter
This page is written by the makers of ShipKit, one of the two products compared. Every TanStarter fact comes from TanStarter's own website and links to its source; where their page didn't say, we wrote “Not confirmed” instead of guessing.
Competitor details checked on 2026-10-19; prices change, check their site.
These two are the closest pair on stack: both are TanStack Start on Cloudflare Workers with D1 and R2. Pick TanStarter if you want password sign-in, AI feature demos, a one-command deploy CLI and a kit that already has a user base. Pick ShipKit if you want an AI coding agent kept in line by tests, modules you can delete cleanly, an admin console with credits and API keys, and a free MIT version to try first.

What they share
Both run TanStack Start on Cloudflare Workers, with D1 (through Drizzle) as the database and R2 for files. So the trade-offs of the platform apply to both equally: bindings instead of connection strings, a free tier that covers an early product, and D1 being SQLite, with no interactive transactions and a size ceiling per database. See D1 has no interactive transactions and SaaS starter kits for Cloudflare Workers for the wider field.
Where they differ
Sign-in: TanStarter has email and password plus social login; ShipKit is passwordless (Google, GitHub, emailed codes). Payments: both do Stripe and Creem, and TanStarter adds Waffo. The product: TanStarter ships AI demos (text, chat, image, image editing, TTS) and a newsletter integration; ShipKit ships an admin console with role-based permissions, an audit log and a read-only admin API, plus credits, API keys for your customers and affiliate tracking.
Setup: TanStarter has a CLI that provisions Cloudflare and deploys in one command. ShipKit writes its setup flows as skills an AI agent runs step by step, and its rules for the agent are enforced by tests, with a deletion recipe for every optional feature that CI runs (AI agent docs).
Price
TanStarter Lifetime is $139 one-time, shown next to $199, with "Only 50 spots left for the first 300 customers", and includes the MkImage template. ShipKit is $99 once at launch; $199 after launch. Both are one-time with lifetime updates and unlimited projects. See pricing for what ShipKit includes.
